Tart Recipes

A tart is a thin pastry with an open top. Tarts may be sweet or savory, and can be served for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert. There is an endless variety of tart fillings, from vegetable, meat, and eggs, to fruit and custard, and chocolate or caramel.

Many tarts are baked, like this savory tart with sausage, vegetables and cheese, or this pear tart with wine poached pears and frangipane. Or they can simply be filled with pastry cream and fruit, like these blackberry custard tarts.

Tarts can be light and delicate or rich and decadent like this chocolate and orange truffle tart. And some tarts don't even have a crust like this impossibly creamy crustless custard tart.
