Thank you to all of you who sent in photos of your French Crullers! Some of you baked and air fried your crullers instead of deep frying them with great success. I heard from bakers who ran into piping challenges, forged ahead anyway, and were rewarded with crullers that tasted great even if they didn't look perfect. 🙂 And, it was especially fun hearing from those of you who had never made doughnuts or choux paste pastry before and were pleasantly surprised to find out how simple it is.
Seeing all of your bakes is one of my favorite things every month. THANK YOU for sharing your Bake Club Challenge creations with me.
The February Bake Club winner is Kathy from Kansas. She has been notified and her prize is on the way.
The March 2021 Bake Club Challenge Recipe is...
Cherry Shortbread Crumble Bars
These buttery, cherry and crumb covered shortbread bars are little slices of heaven, that’s what they are. The shortbread base is everything shortbread should be – tender, rich, not too sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth buttery. The shortbread is spread with cherry preservesspiked with a touch of orange zest and orange liquor, then covered with crispy, crunchy, sweet butter crumbs.
Every bite is buttery, fruity, and crispy. A little like cherry crumb pie in cookie form. And making them couldn’t be simpler.
The March Bake Cub Prize
I couldn't pick just one thing this month for the Bake Club prize, so this month's winner will receive 3 items:
- A "Star Baker" apron
- A 5 piece mini Silicone Spatula Set
